Dear you,
I’ve started this letter over and over.
There is a lot to say. More than I could ever fit in here. You will have a different path than mine. You are a different person. You have a different kid.
But we have something in common. Both our kids are autistic. You can say it. It’s okay. Your kid is autistic. You don’t need a euphemism. You don’t need to determine “functioning.” Autism is not something that needs to be hidden or made smaller. It is not something that has to be “fixed” and absolutely not something to be “cured.”
