The crocuses are up and that can only mean one thing’€”Spring Break is near! While kids would love to hang out in their pajamas all day, we know it’€™s wise to have some super-fun outings planned to survive this 16-day reprieve from school.
When the kids tire of Vancouver’€™s many parks, ski slopes, bike trails, beaches and pools, give our Spring Break to-do list a try.

For the Sports Fan
Be sure to visit the recently re-opened BC Sports Hall of Fame. Located at Gate A of the new BC Place, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games and Hall of Champions galleries honour BC’€™s rich sport history, while inspiring the future. It’s the only museum ‘that makes you sweat’!

For the Wildlife Lover
Hike through Lynn Canyon and learn about everything from bears to bats (topics change daily) during Wildlife Weeks at the Ecology Centre. Or ooh and ahh over the Vancouver Aquarium’€™s newest additions to their underwater family at the new exhibit, ‘€˜Babies’€™, opening March 9.

For the Artist
Watch Arnold Lobel’€™s beloved characters come to life in Carousel Theatre’€™s hit production of A Year with Frog and Toad, on now until April 8. Juno nominees Bobs & Lolo will be performing songs from their new CD, Connecting the Dots at ShamROCK on March 17 at Handsworth Secondary in North Vancouver, and Juno award-winning Charlotte Diamond will be at Centennial Theatre on March 25 singing ‘€œ4 Hugs a Day’€ and other fan favourites.

For Medieval Enthusiasts
Check out Science World’€™s newest exhibit, LEGO Castle Adventure. Here until May 21, this hands-on exhibit teaches kids of all ages about successful castle construction, catapults and jousting.

For Future Filmmakers
Sign up for The Director’s Cut Make a Movie/See a Movie workshop at SilverCity Vancouver on March 21. Kids six years and older get to create and shoot a claymation film, then watch their blockbuster on the big screen (with popcorn, of course). We’€™re sure moms will enjoy the seven-hour break as much as their kids will love the camp.

With so much to do in Vancouver this Spring Break, these ideas should give you just what you need right now’€”a break (for you). Tested by Nancy C., Vancouver
