It might be called Spring Break, but there is very little spring going on outside.
We say channel your inner Julie McCoy and plan a ‘staycation’ for you and the kids with a different activity each day.
Here’s a list of our favourite options:
Go to an indoor playground
Why? You can have coffee, they can run around and use all that pent up energy, and you don’t need to clean up afterwards.
Register soon for an Easter Egg Hunt at Butterfield Acres
Why? Because the Great Bunny waits for no one.
Ski with the kids
Why? Because whether you like downhill or cross-country skiing, it’s time to finally take advantage of the snow and get some exercise and fresh air with family fun thrown in.
Go tobogganing
Why? Remember what we said about having fun in the snow? Make a snowman while you’re at it, or try one of these fun outdoor ideas.
Sign up for one of the amazing camps offered over the break
Why? The kids get to have fun and you might actually get a bit of a break yourself. Stars Gym still has spots available for full and half-day programs. Telus Spark and the Calgary JCC also have openings. Bricks4Kids and 4Cats Art Studio have space in their specialized camps, too.
So what are you waiting for? It won’t be a break if you don’t have a plan to do something different. Remind yourself that a little change can be as good as a rest. Tested by Heather J., Calgary
