You’ll Need
- 4 strip loin steaks, ½"–1" thick (or steak of choice)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 Tbsp steak seasoning
- ⅓ cup beef broth
- ⅓ cup balsamic vinegar
- ½ cup strawberry preserves
- Garnish (fresh parsley and sliced strawberries)
Prep and Cook
- 1Pat both sides of the steak dry with a paper towel then season with salt and steak seasoning, pressing the mixture into the meat.
- 2Preheat a lightly oiled skillet or grill to medium-high heat and cook the steaks, 2–4 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness.
- 3Transfer cooked steaks to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- 4To make the glaze, combine the broth, vinegar and preserves in a pot and bring to boil. Reduce the heat to medium, and cook until reduced and thickened.
- 5To serve, spoon sauce over steaks and garnish with fresh parsley and fresh strawberries.
- 6This recipe was tested with store-bought and homemade jam. The sauce made with store-bought jam was more flavourful and thickened more quickly.
- 7Purchase no-salt-added steak seasoning in order to control the amount of saltiness added to your meat.
- 8The sauce was tested on chicken and pork chops and tasted great with both.
- 9If grilling the steak, place the ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and cook it on the barbecue as well. No need to turn on the oven if it isn’t necessary.
