Homemade Cereal Bars – Healthy and Filling Snacks

At first glance, these no-bake, homemade cereal bars make a healthy and filling snack using cereal you know your kids will eat. And in actuality, they’re really not much different than the classic Rice Krispie squares. So long as your preferred cereal is nut free, these are perfect for school lunches and snacks, or keep them for home only and add all the nuts you like!

No-Bake Homemade Cereal Bars Recipe:

You’ll Need

  • 1½ cup rolled oats
  • 1½ cup puffed wheat cereal or cereal of your choice
  • 1½ cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1½ cup assorted seeds and/or nuts
  • ⅔ cup chocolate chips (if desired)
  • ¼ cup olive or canola oil, plus extra for baking dish
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp salt

Prep and Cook

  • 1
    Oil a 9” x 13” baking dish.
Combine the oats, cereal, cranberries, seeds, and chocolate chips in a medium bowl and set aside.
  • 2
In a medium saucepan, heat the oil, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, and salt and bring it to a boil. Cook for 1 minute, remove from the heat, and allow it to cool.
  • 3
Add the honey mixture to the cereal bowl and stir to combine.
Pour into the baking dish, spreading it around evenly and pressing the mixture into the corners.
  • 4
Place in the fridge for 1 hour, then cut into 18 squares and wrap each in parchment paper or plastic wrap.
Store in the fridge until ready to serve.
