Melon, Mozzarella and Prosciutto Skewers

Melon, Mozzarella and Prosciutto Skewers appetizer for summer

One of my favourite summer appetizers is this melon, mozzarella, and prosciutto skewer.  Three simple ingredients can be slipped onto a wooden stick, seasoned with a touch of fresh ground pepper, and passed around to guests in less time than it would take to run to the store to purchase a store-bought snack. If you’re a little more organized than I am, you can also make them a few hours in advance and store them in the fridge until needed, although if you do this, I would bring them to room temperature at least 30 minutes before serving as that will improve their flavour.

Makes 12.

You’ll Need

  • 12 one-inch cantaloupe (or honeydew) cubes
  • 12 thin prosciutto slices
  • 12 small fresh mozzarella cheese balls
  • Fresh ground pepper
  • 12 wooden skewers

Prep and Cook

  • 1
Thread one piece of melon, one slice of prosciutto, and one mozzarella ball on each of the wooden skewers. Sprinkle with pepper and serve.
