One of my favourite summer appetizers is this melon, mozzarella, and prosciutto skewer. Three simple ingredients can be slipped onto a wooden stick, seasoned with a touch of fresh ground pepper, and passed around to guests in less time than it would take to run to the store to purchase a store-bought snack. If you’re a little more organized than I am, you can also make them a few hours in advance and store them in the fridge until needed, although if you do this, I would bring them to room temperature at least 30 minutes before serving as that will improve their flavour.
Makes 12.
You’ll Need
- 12 one-inch cantaloupe (or honeydew) cubes
- 12 thin prosciutto slices
- 12 small fresh mozzarella cheese balls
- Fresh ground pepper
- 12 wooden skewers
Prep and Cook
- 1Thread one piece of melon, one slice of prosciutto, and one mozzarella ball on each of the wooden skewers. Sprinkle with pepper and serve.
