4 Great Date Night Restaurants in Calgary

How long has it been since you and your sweetheart went out to dinner? At a non-chain restaurant? Just you two? That’s what we thought. These are the most delicious, fun, and worthy of your very precious date night.

In case you’re not a Millennial, B-Bar is the latest hipster hangout in the Beltline. Despite sporting a motorcycle-as-art concept, it doesn’t feel like you’re at a cheesy Hard Rock Cafe. The menu hits all the current trends, plus pizza and pasta, so you know every diner is going to find something they like. (We really like the bubbles menu!) Compared to other Canadian cities, Calgary sports a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. If you’re a fan of pho and light, flavourful dishes, you’ll want to try out this Asian fusion eatery. Under the helm of Duncan Ly, one of the city’s most popular chefs, the menu presents a modern twist on Vietnamese favourites. Fans of upscale pub grub are spoiled for choice with four locations in the city. Here, you won’t break the bank, as there are specials going on every week night and Happy Hour runs 3 to 6 pm. Bonus: In the event your sitter bails, you can bring the kids. Families are welcome until 9 pm, but not at NTNL Bowling (in the basement of NTNL 10). That sweet spot is for adults only. National’s large selection of craft beer is their claim to fame, but we’re pretty partial to their adult slurpees. More info here.

The culinary star in South Calgary, head to this Seton restaurant if you’re into fine dining, but in a casual atmosphere. Case in point: BYOB corkage makes date night easy on the wallet. The gourmet fare here is approachable and we so appreciate the many vegetarian options. Our latest drool was the house-made fava bean and goat cheese dumplings. If tots are in tow, you don’t need to worry about introducing finicky eaters to their inventive menu. A kid’s menu featuring the usual suspects keeps ‘em happy. More info here.
