The spooky season has arrived and the ghosts, ghouls, and gourds (aka pumpkins) are already out in force. There’s plenty of fun for Halloween in Vancouver and the surrounding region this year, with a return of many past favourites after a hiatus for the last few seasons. From Fright Night at the PNE to the ghosts of historical sites, there’s plenty to see and do (and yummy snacks along the way, too) all October long. Here’s a few of our favourites for Halloween in Vancouver this year:
What’s On for Halloween in Vancouver
Petey’s Pumpkin Patch
When: Saturday, October 1st – Monday, October 31st

Find some pumpkins to carve, enjoy playing with the “corn cannons” and get in a round of mini golf while you’re at it, all while enjoying the autumn weather in the heart of the Fraser Valley. There’s a mini maze, as well. Family passes for two adults and two kids are available, or entry per person. Petey’s is one of the most popular pumpkin patches in the Valley region.
Pumpkins After Dark

This unique attraction is new to Burnaby this year, and features a light-filled pathway full of pumpkin sculptures and displays with music, sounds and special effects. This family friendly event is suitable for all ages and features classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons. There are also live pumpkin carving demonstrations and fall themed food treats.
Reapers Maze of Terror
When: Select dates throughout October

This one is not for the little kids, but might be suitable for the teenagers in your family. Reapers is one of the biggest (and arguably scariest) indoor theatrical horror experience in Western Canada. Themed around an old-fashioned haunted hospital, this attraction also features a blackout Maze of Terror, which is a 22,000 square foot maze with little to no light.
Fright Nights at PNE
When: Friday, October 7th to Monday, October 31st

Fright Nights is back this year after a hiatus these last few seasons. Playland transforms into a terrifying Halloween-themed experience with seven haunted houses, more than 15 rides, roaming actors dressed up as ghouls and monsters and plenty of live performances. This will be the last year the Hollywood Horrors haunted house operates as it will be retired after this season. There will be spooky seasonal food options available, too.
Howl-Over Canada (Flyover Canada)

Join a very special witch (aka Biker Mama) on a spooky ride across Canada. This special Halloween themed version of the popular Flyover Canada runs all month long with special times for balloon art and face painting on weekends all month long.
Brinkworth Dungeon

With over 5,000 square feet of handcrafted “horrors” at this unique haunted house, there’s sure to be something to spook every age. Sundays through Thursdays, the theme is Creepy Tour, and Friday and Saturday is Monsters Come Alive. Check out the web page for ticket information at this Murrayville attraction, which has been running for more than 20 years.
Grave Tales at Fort Langley

Join museum staff for two- or three-hour tour programs that include spine-chilling stories during evening walks around Fort Langey village. Some events are geared for adults only, while others are for adults and youth. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Spoo-ook-tacular at Britannia Mine

Take a trip into history – with a spooky twist. Visit Britannia Mine Museum later this month for their spooky-themed fun. The special celebration will include science shows, Halloween themed train rides, an insect show, the “Cabinet of Curiosities” in the museum’s machine shop and more.
Eerie Illusions at Burnaby Village Museum

Burnaby Village Museum transforms into a colourful light-filled “eerie” destination with projections, special effects, displays, surprises, and costumed staff throughout the museum grounds. Suitable for all ages. The museum is a 10-acre site featuring reconstructed buildings from Burnaby’s past. Food trucks will be on site for some warm snacks along the way. will once again transform into a magical world bathed in breathtaking colour with the return of Eerie Illusions. This popular event will captivate visitors with new displays, costumed staff, live performances and surprises hidden in the shadows. Advance ticket purchases are encouraged as the event has sold out in the past.
