There’s no shortage of things to scream about when it comes to Halloween in Calgary! This October, there are tons of spooky events and activities to take part in, from ghost walks and haunted houses to trick or treating and monster mini golf. Prepare to get your ghost on, YYC – this month is gonna be full of some ghoulishly good times!

Halloweekends At Calaway Park | calawaypark.com

Saturdays, Sundays & Holiday Monday until Monday, October 10th

Get your costume ready and head to Calaway Park for a celebration of all things spooky (but don’t worry – it’s not scary!) In addition to all your favourite rides, ghosts and ghouls who visit the park can stroll through Hallowtown, pose for photo ops, and take in the Halloweekends Parade each day at 4 pm (excluding October 10th). If you’d rather join the parade than watch, anyone with a costume is invited! Regular admission rates of $39 for guests 3 and up apply.

Thursday, September 22nd – Monday, October 31st

If you thought your pumpkin carving skills were impressive, just wait until you catch a glimpse of over 6,000 hand-carved pumpkins in all kinds of creative configurations at Pumpkins After Dark, located at Winsport in Canada Olympic Park. This one-of-a-kind walk through experience is totally family-friendly and includes all kinds of pumpkin displays including Disney characters and superheroes, in addition to some creepier carvings – but nothing jumps out to scare anyone! Tickets for adults are $21.95, Youth Tickets (for kids 4-16) are $17.95, and a Family Pass for 2 adult and 2 youth tickets is $74.80.

WinSport Spooktacular Mini Golf | winsport.ca

Thursdays to Sundays Throughout October from 5 – 9 pm

Costumes are encouraged at WinSport for 18 holes of spooktacular haunted mini golf! The course is perfect to challenge everyone in your family and takes about an hour to complete. Be sure to pre-book your time slot for $10 (and pay the remainder when you arrive) to ensure you get a spot! Tickets are $50 per group of up to 5. If you’ve had a chance to visit Pumpkins After Dark, bring along your ticket to save $5 off your mini golf booking.


ScreamFest | screamfest.ca

Weekends in October from 7 pm to midnight

For family members 12 and over who are up for a truly bone-chilling experience, Calgary’s largest Halloween event is returning to Stampede Park for weekends during the month of October. ScreamFest features 6 terrifying haunted houses, carnival games, and axe throwing, rides, and a Screaming (screening) Room playing highlights from independent Halloween, Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy films. If you still have an appetite after all of the screaming, food trucks will also be on site. Tickets start at $30. The event takes place both inside and outdoors, so be sure to dress according to the weather in Calgary in October!

October 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 & 29 from 6 – 11 pm

There’s something for everyone to check out at Field of Screams, located at Cobb’s Adventure Park. For scream-seekers, there are 6 haunted houses, rated by spookiness. There’s also blacklight mini-golf, giant puzzles, pedal carts, archery tag, tractor rides, a bonfire, food and drinks, and even a kangaroo petting zoo! Tickets are $26 online and $30 at the door. Children 2 and under are free.


Ghouls’ Night Out | heritagepark.ca

October 28-29 from 6 – 9 pm and October 30 from 5 – 8 pm

If you’ve got Halloween-lovers who are looking for a safe and fun way to celebrate the spooky season, gather the whole family and head to Heritage Park! With trick-or-treating, a life-sized game of Monster Operation, a tea party, croquet, and character visits from the crew of  Alice in Wonderland, monster meet and greets, spooky stories and crafts, street theatre performances and much, much, more, get ready for a Halloween celebration you’ll be talking about all year! Don’t forget to wear your Halloween best and bring your camera and flashlights! Tickets are $14.99 for kids 3-5 and $19.95 for ghosts and ghouls 16 and up.

Ghosts of Fish Creek Walking Tour | eventbrite.ca

October 26 – 27 from 6 – 8 pm

Join a tour of the Bow Valley Ranche area with a mug of hot chocolate as you learn about the ghosts who are rumoured to haunt the area. This family-friendly tour takes place primarily on paved pathways and covers about 2 km. Halloween costumes and comfortable shoes are recommended! Tickets are $8.45

October 29 – 31 from 9 am – 10 pm 

Even the animals at the Calgary Zoo are getting in on the fun this Halloween in Calgary! Get on your costumes, grab your treat bags, and head to the zoo for some trick-or-treating amongst your favourite furry friends! Treat stations will be located throughout the park for guests 12 years of age and under. ZooBOO activities are included with daily admission.

Haunted Calgary: Wicked | hauntedcalgary.org

Fridays and Saturdays in October, as well as October 30 and November 3 & 4 – various times

Almost 6,000 square feet of creepy characters, spooky sets and props await at Haunted Calgary, located in the underground parkade of the New Horizons Mall. This terrifying haunted house is recommended for members of the family 12 and older (those with nerves of steel will fare the best!) If you love the thought of a haunted house but just aren’t sure how much terror you can handle, daytime shows tend to be “low scare” and are better for kids and anyone who just wants to check out the sets. After 5 pm, the screaming begins! General admission is $25. For groups of 6 or more, tickets are $22 each. This event is fully accessible.
