Don’t Miss Anastasia on Broadway

The NAC is hosting the popular Anastasia Broadway show August 30 until September 4. Tickets are still available for evening or matinee performances. Please note, this show is recommended for children ages 7 and up (children under 4 won’t be permitted).

Have Fun at the Carp Fair

Since 1863, the Carp Fair has been an event not to miss. It returns September 22 until September 25 with all of the fair goodness you expect and love. Ride the midway, grab a bite of your favourite fair food and take in some of the entertainment. The full schedule will be available online soon. Tickets can be purchased online (with a special rate for children).

Go Apple Picking!

September is apple picking season. Plan to bake your favourite apple treat or pack them in lunches after you pick-your-own apples or when you stop to pick up a bushel from your favourite supplier. Visit our list of apple picking locations around the Ottawa area to find a place near you!

If you want to enjoy more than just apple picking, visit Cannamore Orchard which offers family fun events and activities on the weekends from 11 am until 4 pm (orchard hours are 10 am until 5 pm). Your family fun ticket includes many activities like wagon rides, mazes, pedal cars, the opportunity to explore the play area and more.

Get Creative at the Ottawa Art Gallery

On September 24th, from 9 am until 4 pm, enjoy family day at the Ottawa Art Gallery as part of the Ottawa International Animation Festival. This event is free for kids 12 and  under. There are screenings with kid-friendly animation short films for the entire family. After your special viewing, get creative by participating in hands-on workshops for kids. This event is a part of Culture Days a national celebration of arts and culture

Shop at Baby Mama Hustle

Save the date for the next Baby Mama Hustle market as it returns to Lansdowne on September 25 from 10 am until 3 pm for their new event ‘Picnic in the Park’. Shop for baby and family items, enjoy something delicious to eat and support local. There will be an indoor and outdoor patio, entertainment, and over 5o vendors. Highlights also include a mini photo shoot set up and a craft corner with fun activities. Early access tickets go on sale on September 10th at 10 am.

Get Carried Away!

Look to the skies on September 1 to September 5 for the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival. In addition to spending time spotting the hot air balloons in the sky, there are amusement rides and park festivities, food and live entertainment. The Musical Matinee provides a morning performance at 6:45 am as the balloons prepare to leave and the sun rises. Bring a blanket or chair for comfort (and purchase your tickets in advance online!)

Visit a Historic Village

Upper Canada Village in the Fall is a great time to visit and with special weekend events happening in September (like Horse Lovers Weekend and 1860s Fall Fair weekend) you have even more reasons to plan a trip just over an hour outside of Ottawa. Step back in time while walking around the village, take horse drawn transporation, grab a bite at the restauarant or bakery and say hello to the farm animals.
