Prologue It’s a dark and stormy day during Spring Break in Vancouver and the kids are climbing the walls. Mom walks in flourishing tickets to a fun kids’ show. The kids squeal with delight. Entire cast exits stage right.
The lights come up to an empty stage—the plot thickens…which show (or shows) has Mom chosen for the three and up audience?
Act One
Scene One
The kids are excited to check out the delightful puppetry and story telling in Mermaid Theatre’s production Swimmy, Frederick & Inch by Inch. Based on the books by Leo Lionni and co-presented by Carousel Theatre and Axis Productions, the show runs March 5 and 6 at the Norman Rothstein Theatre.
Scene Two
Our characters take a jaunt over to Granville Island to see Carousel Theatre’s always-popular Munscha Mia! show. This fun-filled play features music based on familiar and new stories by beloved Canadian author Robert Munsch and runs from March 5 to 27.
Scene Three
Mom packs everyone up to visit the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam for a great line-up and some post-show workshops to let you make a day of it! The Little Old Man is a unique puppet show performed with the companion piece Hansel and Gretel. Also on stage is The Big Sneeze (suitable for ages five and up), which uses humour to tell the story of a tall girl who wants to be invisible. The shows run from March 22 to 25.
