Aren’t you just loving those hint-of-spring colours showing up everywhere? Primroses and snowdrops are out and about, and you should be, too. Okay, technically it could still snow anytime, but we’ve discovered a destination point that will keep dispositions sunny even if the weather isn’t.
It’s the End of the Line General Store, a recently refurbished heritage site at the summit of Lynn Valley Road in North Vancouver. Under new owner Connie Fay, it’s been transformed from a run-of-the-mill convenience shop to a top-of-the-hill hang-out stop for families, mountain bikers and walkers galore. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, you’ll find something to love at this corner store.
There’s been a market of some sort at this location for nearly a hundred years, its first customers being the passengers who took the long-gone Lynn Valley streetcar all the way up the hill to the ‘end of the line’. Nowadays you’ll find that this funky foodery places you just steps away from the entrance to Lynn Headwaters Park and wooded walking trails that will take you to Rice Lake, the (no-cost) Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, or even—if you’re feeling adventurous and happen to have packed a tent along—all the way to Horseshoe Bay.
