Vancouver is known for its towering Douglas Firs, but its patchwork of autumn colours and gorgeous fall foliage are also a sight for eyes big and small to behold. Here are a few places in the Lower Mainland to take your child to experience the magic of nature at this golden time of year, and maybe even learn about photosynthesis—up close and personal.

Stanley Park
All arrows point to Stanley Park when it comes to nature in Vancouver, and with good reason. Fall is truly a special time here. Oak and maple trees line parts of the seawall, and you can hike or bike in to Beaver Lake to get away from the bustle of the park. While the seawall, at 10 km, is a bit long for little ones, there are places to park and walk throughout the park, but note pay parking is in effect. The playground—located just off the seawall near the water park and the miniature train—is a nice way to wrap up the outing.

Queen Elizabeth Park
If you like your colours with a view, head to Queen Elizabeth Park. Located in the heart of Vancouver, the park boasts stunning vantage points of the city and mountains, as well as a host of deciduous trees and shrubs. If it rains on your parade, head inside the Bloedel Floral Conservatory to experience exotic colours of tropical plants.

There are a few more truly fantastic spots around town for leaf-viewing. Just keep moving through our guide on Where to See the Fall Foliage in Vancouver.
