Free Things to Do with the Kids in Vancouver

It’s true that those who celebrate Christmas in December are broke in January, but that’s no reason to sit around and do nothing. When you live in Vancouver—one of the greatest cities on earth—you can find a plethora of free family activities to keep your little ones engaged while your finances recover.

Embrace your inner Picasso.
Where? The Vancouver Art Gallery
What’s free? The V.A.G. hosts free family programs every Sunday from 12–4 pm with the price of admission. Explore the gallery with an Art Agent and learn the story behind the picture.

Find balance.
Where? Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Park
What’s free? This tranquil park is maintained by the City of Vancouver and features a pagoda and Chinese architecture. It’s located beside a classical Chinese garden that charges $14 admission, but you can find harmony in this park for free.

Crazy for trains?
Where? The Engine 374 Pavilion at the Roundhouse Community Centre
What’s free? Entrance to the pavilion, where kids can check out the first locomotive to pull into Vancouver after the completion of the transcontinental railway in 1887.

We’ve got more. Check out all 7 Free Things to Do with the Kids in Vancouver.

Winter need not be dull just because your finances are on hiatus—pack your snacks and get going.
