How to Make the Most of Winter in Vancouver

What better way to welcome 2016 than to slip and slide into it with those you cherish most. And the snow on the North Shore Mountains is a welcome sight after last year, so if you didn’t get a chance to build a snowman over Christmas, resolve to make one now. Here are some frosty fun ways to make the most of our winter weather.

Go Snow Tubing at Cypress Mountain
As you drive up Cypress Mountain (snow tires or chains necessary) Vancouver turns into a magical Narnia-like world, and the Snow Tube Park, located past the cross-country ticket booth, will not disappoint. Sliders must be 42 inches or taller and minimum age of six, and a ticket is good for two hours of screaming fun. If all that fresh air makes you hungry, hotdogs and hot chocolate are available for purchase at the nearby concession. Good snow boots mandatory.

Go Tobogganing at Mount Seymour
Relive your childhood and show your own children a great time by heading to Mount Seymour’s tobogganing area. Good for all ages (and all danger levels, only walk up as far as you want), you can bring your own toboggan or buy a slide for $10. A family of five costs $48 per session until February 22 (the price drops after that date). Dress warmly for best results.
