5 Ways to Save a Life

CPR Training Class

Around your house, you’€™re known as a lifesaver. But knowing how to locate that missing hamster, rain boot or passport is one thing. Knowing how to stop a child from choking or respond to a febrile seizure is another thing altogether.

Save yourself the worry and potentially someone’s life while you’€™re at it. Sign up (or brush up if you’€™ve done it all before) with On-Site First Aid & CPR Training Group.

New parents typically know all about taking the course before their bundle of joy arrives, but Diana Brown, lead trainer and owner of On-Site, also recommends a refresher course each year for everyone else.

Think you’€™re already a lifesaving ninja? Try this pop quiz to see if you’re right. Q: What is the treatment for choking with an infant under 12 months?
a) Backblows only
b) Alternate backblows with abdominal thrusts
c) Alternate backblows with chest thrusts
d) Abdominal thrusts only
e) Chest thrusts only
Get the answer here.

Unlike the (sometimes) mind-numbing and intimidating classes taught elsewhere, On-Site’€™s programs are comfortable and engaging and typically run for three hours in either your home (with groups of eight or ten) or at locations around the city. You’€™ll be thoroughly instructed in all the infant- and child-lifesaving fundamentals, including CPR, choking, allergies (including EpiPen and Twinject administration), wounds, bandages and more.

Along with registration and a list of their current classes, the On-Site website offers monthly first aid resources in the form of wallet-sized printable PDFs to keep on hand so you can carry a visual reminder of various lifesaving tips.

Moms are always on duty but sometimes that extends to more than we bargained for, so be prepared with these Ways to Save a Life.
