Tissue Paper Flower Toppers

You’ll Need

  • 2 sheets of tissue paper per colour of flower
  • Wooden skewers
  • Twist ties or floral wire

How to Make

  1. Cut the tissue paper into rectangular strips (approx. 4” x 10”) and stack the strips on top of each other (you should have 15 to 20 strips per flower.)
  2. Fold the paper in an accordion pleat method, starting from the short edge.
  3. Wrap a twist tie or piece of floral wire around the centre of the paper.
  4. Trim the ends of the paper to make the edges even on both sides. Scallop the sides or cut into a point, if desired.
  5. Separate the layers of paper on both sides of the twist tie or wire, pulling the layers towards the middle and shaping it into a flower.
  6. Insert a wooden skewer into the centre of the flower as a stem. When the cake has been iced, decorate the top with the flowers.
