You’ll Need
- 2 sheets of tissue paper per colour of flower
- Wooden skewers
- Twist ties or floral wire
How to Make
- Cut the tissue paper into rectangular strips (approx. 4” x 10”) and stack the strips on top of each other (you should have 15 to 20 strips per flower.)
- Fold the paper in an accordion pleat method, starting from the short edge.
- Wrap a twist tie or piece of floral wire around the centre of the paper.
- Trim the ends of the paper to make the edges even on both sides. Scallop the sides or cut into a point, if desired.
- Separate the layers of paper on both sides of the twist tie or wire, pulling the layers towards the middle and shaping it into a flower.
- Insert a wooden skewer into the centre of the flower as a stem. When the cake has been iced, decorate the top with the flowers.
