There's Fun for the Whole Family at an Ottawa Champions Baseball Game

It’s that time of year again! Families are grabbing their ball gloves and heading outside for a game of catch, or Pop Fly 500. Little Leagues around the city are beginning their season…but they aren’t the only ball players in town. As Ottawa continues to cheer on their hockey teams, we should also be heading to the ball park to cheer on our baseball team. The Ottawa Champions minor league baseball team begin a new season with their home opener on Thursday, May 18. They won the league championship last year, so you know they’re playing a top game. Tickets are on sale now and we bet that you won’t strike out when the kids find out they’ll be heading to a ballgame.

Families will love how the team has structured their ballpark outings like MLB games, meaning there’s a lot of great food and special things planned with families in mind. Sunday home games are family days and the kids will be treated to some pre-game action in the Kids Zone with inflatable structures, rock climbing and games. Plus, after enjoying nine innings of baseball action, they’ll have the chance to run the bases. Keep an eye out for the team mascot who loves to see the kids and grab a picture with them.

On Saturdays, you’ll want to let the kids stay up for the fireworks on display after the game.  If you have a child celebrating a birthday in the summer, you can also enquire about the Champions’ birthday party packages.  If you are looking to grab a bite to eat (and who can resist the call of ballpark food?) you’ll find hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn available for purchase (along with other nibbles like pizza so you can stay for lunch or dinner).

The kids will love all of the hands-on activities to do before the game in addition to the game itself. We think parents will love getting the kids outside for an affordable family afternoon.  The nicer weather is finally upon us, and we think sitting at the ballpark sounds like the perfect way to spend a lazy summer day with the kids.
