The Sea Beast

Chris Williams (Moana, Big Hero 6) directs this animated tale of sea monsters, monster hunters, and a young girl who stows away on a ship for a grand adventure. The voice cast includes Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens, and Kathy Burke.
The Great British Baking Show (S12)
July 10 on CBC Gem
Young bakers and wannabe chefs may get a kick out of this award-winning baking fave, which returns for its 12th season this month. The action returns to Down Hall, where a dozen new bakers will assemble under the famous tent to tackle 30 new delicious challenges.
Race Against the Tide (S2)

Aspiring sandcastle builders can get an array of tips and then some with the second-season return of this Canadian sandcastle building competition. Maestro Fresh Wes is back to host as a new group of sand sculptors head to the Bay of Fundy to create impressive works of art in hopes of a $10,000 prize.
Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight
July 14 on Netflix
Jack Black is back for another romp in this animated series based on the characters from the film. When legendary warrior Po teams with an English knight on a global quest for magical weapons, he’s hoping to restore the knight’s reputation while also saving the world.
Zombies 3
July 15 on Disney+
The third and final film in this high school-set franchise hits the Mouse House this week with returning stars Milo Manheim as zombie Zed and Meg Donnelly as cheerleader Addison. When we return, it’s senior year, and although Seabrook High has become a safe town for monsters and humans alike, a sudden arrival threatens to disrupt that peace.
Too Old for Fairy Tales

This heartfelt, coming-of-age movie revolves around a spoiled gamer who wants to compete in an upcoming tournament. However, when his mom becomes ill and his eccentric aunt begins to spend more time with him, he’s forced to rethink his priorities.

Billy Porter makes his directorial debut in this aspirational coming-of-age movie written by Ximena García Lecuona. The story follows Kelsa (Eva Reign), a confident high school girl who is trans, as she navigates through senior year. When her classmate Khal (Abubakr Ali) gets a crush on her, he musters up the courage to ask her out, despite the drama he knows it could cause.
Gabby’s Dollhouse (S5)

The animated series for young children returns with plenty of cats. Follow along as Gabby embarks on various adventures in her magical dollhouse in this latest crop of episodes. Don’t forget your magic cat ears.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (S3)
July 27 on Disney+
The anticipated third season of this show kicks off its weekly run this month. This time, the action picks up at Camp Shallow Lake, a sleepaway camp in California where the Wildcats and fellow campers are ready for an unforgettable summer. With a Frozen production planned and a docuseries capturing all of the prep, it will be a busy summer indeed.

Older kids may get a kick out of this incoming British teen thriller series with a message. Follow along as a trio of cheerleaders at a posh private school revive their former classmates’ anti-bullying club and team up to fight injustice.

This incoming animated series is for preschoolers with a penchant for music. Follows three best birdie buddies (voiced by Kristen Bell, Jackie Tohn, and Luke Youngblood) as they take flight on new and exciting adventures. Expect plenty of musical moments along the way, of course.
