Whether trick or treating happens this year or not, Halloween is not cancelled. It’s all in how you celebrate it. Luckily, for families in the GTA area, Pumpkins After Dark is returning for a second year. The event takes place at Country Heritage Park in Milton, featuring a Covid-safe 2.5 km guided audio drive-thru.
If you’re a fan of driving around looking at Christmas lights you’ll love this ghoulish Halloween-inspired event. There are over 150 pumpkin sculptures for you to admire from the comfort of your own car as you wind your way through the park.
The best part is, because this is a family event, it’s not scary for little ones. There are a few displays with zombies and classic horror monsters but the majority of the displays are kid-favourites like superheroes and Disney characters.
Tickets can be purchased online where you pay by the number of people in your car (children aged 3 and under are free), and reserve a date and time. You may want to book soon, as the earlier time slots are going fast.
Prices are a bit on the higher side (a car of 3 people is $58.00, 4 people is $69.00), however, the site does indicate that (for a limited time) if you book for a date in September, you can save 15% on the cost.
With so much up in the air, it’s nice to have fun events we can still take the kids to. And it’s easy to make a night of it: pack up the car with hot chocolate or warm apple cider, your favourite snacks, and throw on a costume yourself if you’re feeling festive. Happy Halloween!
Pumpkins After Dark starts September 18, 2020, and runs until November 1, 2020, Thursdays to Sundays starting after dark at Country Heritage Park, Milton, ON.
