There are so many things to love about the holidays, but at the top of our list are all of the traditions, events, and outings that build up to the big day and help us get us into the spirit of the season. Bonus points if those outings and events include family time, laughter and a good dose of exuberant fun.
If you’re looking for something that fits the bill, Ross Petty’s annual productions could be just the holiday tradition you’re looking for!
This year’s show, A Christmas Carol: The Family Musical with a Scrooge Loose!, marks the first time in 22 years that the Ross Petty gang are putting on a family musical that’s all about Christmas—and it features everyone’s favourite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge (naturally) has big plans to own the holiday season, but an ‘interesting’ group of characters, including Cratchit, Marley, the Ghosts of Plumbum, Jack the Rapper, a girl group, a boy band, and a bunch of ghostdusters, plan to intervene and team up on Christmas Eve, 1850s London (Ontario), to teach Scrooge the real meaning of Christmas.
You can expect a lot of fun songs, high-energy dancing, silly jokes and hilarious ad-libs. So—pretty much kid-heaven. (Though, we’re pretty sure you’ll be laughing hard, too!)
A Christmas Carol is playing at the Elgin Theatre on Yonge Street, which gives you a great excuse to plan a day downtown to do some shopping, see the lights and grab a bite before or after taking in the show. Family time perfection.
A Christmas Carol: The Family Musical with a Scrooge Loose! is open now and runs until Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Elgin Theatre. Performances are at 7 pm and 2 pm. The show last 2 hours and 15 minutes and tickets start at $27. For a complete performance schedule, and to purchase tickets, visit rosspetty.com.
