Parties From the Pages

Birthday parties tend to be easier to execute when there is a theme in place, and whether you choose a colour, number, superhero, favourite animal, food or season as the backdrop for your bash, everything is easily organized when there is a specific subject to base your food, decor and games around.
Some of my personal favourite party themes have come from the pages of popular children’€™s novels. My boys have been to a Harry Potter party, and when Alex Rider was the book du jour in our house, my husband and I put together a spy party that the neighbourhood kids still talk about, complete with secret identities, an outdoor scavenger hunt and invitations that were delivered in manila envelopes and marked ‘€˜TOP SECRET.’€™

Book-themed parties are great for the first and second birthday, when a baby’€™s interests aren’€™t quite defined yet, and if you want to keep the party simple and not too matchy-matchy you can just pull out one or two elements from a story, like blogger extraordinaire, Deb, did with her son’€™s Subway-inspired cake.

Here is a list’€”in no way complete’€”of some of my favourite children’s books that would make excellent party themes.
