Kids' Birthday Party Ideas in Toronto - SavvyMom

Best Kids’ Birthday Party Ideas in Toronto

Let’s get something clear: There’s nothing wrong with a simple, old fashioned kid’s birthday party at home. A cake, some pizza, and maybe some games like musical chairs and charades as entertainment are a perfectly fine way to celebrate your little one’s big day. But if you’re looking for kids’ birthday party ideas in Toronto that are a little more elaborate, or maybe something not at home, keep reading.

Below, we’ve rounded up these awesome Toronto-based birthday party ideas. We’ve included a mix of at-home and not-at-home suggestions and we’ve tried to cover a range of themes, activities, and age groups.

Birthday Party Ideas in Toronto & the GTA

Active Kids Zone

951 Alness St.

This North York venue calls itself “your party headquarters” and for good reason. It features a ton of themes and activities to choose from including crafts, karaoke, bumper balls and more, including various kinds of sports. There’s also a 3,000 square foot “toddler wonderland” for kids ages one through five. Active Kids Zone is also a great choice for families that are looking for a more all-inclusive experience as it will provide décor, food, and even loot bags. Pricing varies depending on what package you choose but they start at $375.

Chamelea Centre

2-126 Limestone Crescent, Toronto
Their place or yours: Your choice

While the Ontario Science Centre might not be currently offering birthday parties, the science-oriented Chamelea Centre is hosting celebrations that are perfect for kids who are fascinated with our natural world. Choose a theme such as outer space, cooking, or dinosaur, and then let the enthusiastic staff at the Chamelea Centre do the work. All on-site events include interactive activities, access to the Centre’s indoor playground and all set-up and clean-up. Pricing for a two-hour on-site event starts at $395 and covers up to 15 kids and 20 adults, with the option to include extra people for additional fees. There’s also the option to book the Centre to come to your house, where they’ll lead a one-hour, hands-on demonstration. The fee for this experience varies depending on your address but starts at $235.

Fairyland Theatre

#2-1183A Finch Ave. W., Toronto
Their place or yours: Your choice

Fairyland Theatre is happy to welcome your birthday kid to its tricked out North York party venue where your child’s favourite character (choose from over 50 superhero ideas and over a dozen princess themes) will come to life and entertain your guests with music, lights, stage props and more. The birthday kid will also get extra special treatment, for example, getting to dress up in a princess gown and pick out a tiara to wear. If you prefer, the characters can also come to your house (or another location of your choosing) and show off their magic there. A variety of packages are available, but all include high quality children’s entertainers, face painting and photos with the characters. Prices start at $180 for a one-hour princess-themed party.

Funfetti

Their place or yours: Your choice

Dreaming of an Instagram-perfect party for your under-seven-year-old that also keeps them and all the other kids busy and happy? Then check out Funfetti’s collection of soft play rentals. Its carefully curated sets look adorable and are in meticulous shape. Packages start at $388 and delivery/pick-up being extra.

The Gaming RV

Their place or yours: Your place

Cake and other food (provided by you) can be served right in the RV, meaning less mess to clean up! A variety of packages are available, starting at $559 for two hours of RV time on the weekend. The RV is also happy to travel throughout the GTA, for an additional fee.

Groove School of Dance

491 Eglinton Ave. W, Toronto

Since this is a dance school, a dance-focused birthday party is one of its many options, but so are such themes as LEGO, magic, and yoga. Pizza and other food can be added on to your package or you can bring your own. You also have the option of renting out the lounge, where you and other adults can hang out and where you can serve food and alcohol. Parties are generally 90 minutes in length and costs start at $475 for 15 kids (with the option to add on extra kids for another $5 a head). There’s also an option to rent out one or more “hyper-realistic dinosaurs.”

Up to 18 kids can be accommodated inside the bus, which is climate controlled. Kids can also eat in the bus; you just provide the food. Pawsitively Pets

125 Brentcliffe Road & 94 Laird Dr., Toronto
Their place or yours: Your choice

Want to treat your guests to some hands-on animal interactions but would prefer to go to an outside venue? Then check out Pawsitively Pets. While it does have the option to bring their animals to your home, you can also throw your party at one of its two locations. Packages include a one-hour interaction with eight to nine animals, during which guests can be photographed interacting with a creature. Guests then get to take home their picture inside a frame that they’ve decorated. On-site packages start at $435 for a weekday party while off-site parties start at $265.

The birthday kid will also get a song and dance performance just for them and you’re welcome to bring food onboard. The pirate ship sails from May to October (sorry winter babies!). Different packages are available, including one that lets you rent out the whole ship. However the cheapest option starts at $350, which includes 10 tickets. Other add-ons, including pirate gear, are also available.

Planet Bowl

5555 Eglington Ave., Toronto
Their place or yours: Their place

Have a ball in one of Planet Bowl’s three private party rooms. Depending on the room size, up to 26 kids can don a pair of bowling shoes and try to roll a strike. Princess Parties Plus

Their place or yours: Your place

Don’t let the name, and the very pink website, fool you. This company offers a wide range of performers and services that will take your kid’s at-home party up to the next level. Arrange an appearance from your child’s favourite princess or superhero or have a visit from a group of singing puppeteers. The company can also set up an at-home spa experience, karaoke lounge or even a teddy bear picnic or can arrange for something off-site, like a party at a Toronto Marlies game. Pricing varies depending on what experience your child is interested in and where you are located.

Rinx

65 Orfus Rd., Toronto
Their place or yours: Their place

If your kids love hockey or figure skating, Rinx could be the perfect spot for your child’s birthday. You’ll have access to a full-size rink that can be used to host a hockey game, obstacle courses, different games, or just free skating. Packages also include access to a private room where your guests will enjoy pizza, pop and more. For exact rates, please contact Rinx directly. Rinx also offers a couple of sister venues, including inflapark The Bubble and the self-explanatory Playtime Bowl which also offer birthday party packages.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

288 Bremner Blvd., Toronto
Their place or yours: Their place

How does partying with sharks sound? At Ripley’s, your guests can do just that! The standard package here includes 90 minutes in the exclusive party room where a Ripley’s educator will walk guests through such hands-on activities as science experiments. Before or after this experience, you can take your guests on a self-guided tour through the aquarium. As of November 2022, no additional décor or food or drink is allowed (though guests can bring water in a reusable bottle). We know this sounds a bit odd at first however, it does cut down on your to-do list and you could opt to send home a cupcake as a loot bag item. The standard package runs $500 and includes admission for up to 24 guests.

Non-Chocolate Advent Calendars - SavvyMom

Awesome Non-Chocolate Advent Calendars

I never could stomach the cheap, waxy chocolates that come in your run-of-the mill advent calendars, so there was no way I was going to put my sons through that torture each December. One of the first non-chocolate advent calendars we got was an adorable Little People set, but since then we’ve had to get creative.

We tried the fancy Lindt chocolates and the Squish gummy advent calendars, but after thousands of dollars in dental bills, we needed non-sugar-filled options. While the Costco Lego advent calendars have gotten us through the past couple of years, I could tell the boys were bored with the same builds last year — not to mention our Lego bin is more than overflowing!

In the hunt for fun, candy-free options for my boys, I discovered these 17 picks and wanted to share in case I’m not the only parent looking for non-chocolate advent calendars.

Everything You Need This Holiday Season from Carters | OshKosh

It’s the time of year that kids (and parents) have been waiting for—the lead up to the holidays. Kids are working hard on their wishlists, and parents are working hard to make sure this year is one to remember. And every year we’re scrambling to find a set of matching family Christmas jammies, only to find the sizes we need are all sold out. Or we are left wondering what we’re going to wear for our photos with Santa at the very last minute, then throwing on something red and calling it a day.

With that in mind, we recommend getting a head start this year, and Carter’s | OshKosh is making it easy with their holiday shop.

Whether you’re looking for that perfect outfit for baby’s first Christmas or coordinated holiday outfits for the whole family (from newborn to pre-teens), Carter’s | OshKosh has you covered. They’re the perfect destination for everything you need for the holidays, including fun gift ideas for all the kids on your list. They even have a handy gift guide if you need a little inspiration, or help finding a gift for someone on your list.

And for a limited time, they’re having a special holiday promotion, so there’s no better time to peek at what they have in store this season.

Holiday Picture Taking

The holidays are the perfect time to take a special picture with the whole family—one that you’re actually in as well, not just your shadow from behind the camera, the one always taking the pictures. It’ll be hard enough making sure everyone is smiling and looking at the photographer at the same time, so give yourself a break by getting everyone’s outfits sorted in advance. Carter’s | OshKosh has adorable holiday outfits for all ages—from baby to toddler to teen. Your toddler will love this sweet red floral chiffon dress, while babies will look adorable in this plaid dress with a peter pan collar, or this three-piece plaid set with suspenders. Older kids will be comfy and cute in these classic chinos and button-front shirts for boys, or this two-piece plaid top and legging set for girls.

Party Wear

There are so many occasions for dressing up during the holidays—whether it’s  a Christmas or Hanukkah family gathering, a work party that you can bring your kids to, or a potluck with other families from your kids’ school. From formal to casual, Carter’s | OshKosh has something for all the kids in your family. To get you started, check out this three-piece red pullover hoodie and pant set for baby boys, or this holiday-themed fleece top and leggings set for older girls.

Baby’s First Christmas

Taking that first photo with Santa is often a hilarious rite of passage for families, and the first holiday spent with a new baby is a time to be remembered. Carter’s | OshKosh’s holiday baby shop has tons of options for you to choose from to celebrate baby’s first Christmas: from this holiday bodysuit and pant set with Santa on the bum, to this sweet overalls and shirt outfit complete with a Santa bib.

Matching PJs

One of our favourite holiday memories is waking up in the morning and running downstairs to open the presents, and then lounging with family in our pajamas. If you want a fun set of matching holiday-themed jammies for the whole family, Carter’s | OshKosh has some great options—including adult sizes too! And don’t wait too long to grab a set while they still have all sizes in stock. We’re loving this bundle of Santa-printed jammies, but check out the whole family holiday PJ shop here for more options.

Cozy Fleece

While you’re shopping, don’t forget to pick up a few cozy fleece items to keep warm while you’re out and about. They’re great extra layers to add to your kids outfits to keep them warm while you’re out looking at lights or cutting down that perfect Christmas tree—like this cute hooded pram onesie with bear ears for baby, or this striped B’Gosh fleece cozie for the older kids.

Gift Giving

Last but certainly not least, Carter’s | OshKosh carries a great selection of gifts, including small stocking stuffers and big-ticket items like toys. For example, if you have a toddler in your life, they’re going to love the fun animal-themed slippers: for example, these unicorn ones, or these moose ones. This pop-up toy is a great choice for the babies on your list, while this fun zoo ice cream shop set will keep a toddler happy for hours.

Will you be prepping for the holidays by grabbing some of these items for your kids? If so, make sure to visit your local Carter’s | OshKosh store (or visit their holiday shop online) soon – before the sales are over!

Thanks to Carter’s | OshKosh for partnering with us on this fun post!

Managing Separation Anxiety - SavvyMom

Managing Separation Anxiety in Kids

So here we are. Cold, flu, RSV, and Covid-19 sick days aside, we’re technically back to whatever real life we find ourselves in. Back to school. Back to sports. Back to life. And if back-to-life jitters have become back-to-life anxiety, what should we do? Separation anxiety usually affects babies and toddlers and Kindergarteners. But these days kids of all ages are suffering all kids of anxiety, especially separation anxiety.

First you should ask: Who is having the separation anxiety? Moms and dads often have the toughest time letting go of the little ones. They hug and re-hug, begin to tear up and then hover… peering through the windows or the doorway, hoping that the adjustment will go well.

We have many opportunities to guide our children with our own behaviour, and that means taking a good look at what we are doing and what we want to be doing when we send our children on their way.

When we allow our parent-emotions to get in the way, we can overwhelm our youngsters who have their own feelings to manage. You need a new plan. Set your child up by involving her in the planning process and then practicing that plan.

4 Steps to Managing Separation Anxiety

1. Help your child to find their courage

Think of the people who love you and find your courage to walk into school or the gym, even if you are feeling uncomfortable.

2. What will they tell themself to build that courage?

“I can do this.” “Mom and Dad will be OK without me.” “I’m going play with my favourite toy today.”

3. Make a plan

Routines give everyone a better sense of predictability and control. Plan and practice what the goodbye will look like. You will walk them to the door, do your three-second hug, say “See you at pick up, I know you can do it,” and walk away. They’ll say their words from step two.

Stick to the plan. If you keep it simple then they will think it’s simple.

4. Walk away

Having practiced the routine ahead of time, you can now do your goodbye routine with your child and walk away. Then you can cry or jump for joy and go have a coffee!

Indoor Playgrounds in Vancouver - SavvyMom

Indoor Playgrounds in Vancouver

It’s that time of year: the grey skies and rainy weather makes those great outdoor activities that keep us busy most of the year a little less pleasant. And while the right jacket and boots can keep you enjoying the fresh air all year long, there might be some days when you simply want to get the kids running around – minus the umbrella and soggy socks. Thankfully we have great options for indoor playgrounds in Vancouver.

Though many indoor playgrounds and activity centres were closed during the last two years, most have now re-opened. Be sure to check the websites for information on pre-booking time slots as some places are keeping numbers limited yet to help ensure a clean and safe environment.

Here’s a few of our favourite indoor playground options in Vancouver and throughout the greater Vancouver region…

Indoor Playgrounds in Vancouver

Kidtropolis – Richmond

This unique indoor play facility opened in 2016 and offers an interactive “city” intended to help children engage in pretend play – children can be teachers, firefighters, restaurant owners, and more, with various businesses and buildings in the model city filled with costumes and various “props” to interact with.

Play Abby – Abbotsford and Surrey

With one location in Abbotsford and now a second in Surrey, there’s a Play Abby close to hand for residents east of the city. Both have extensive indoor climbing and play equipment, along with laser tag at the Abbotsford location and a “glow zone” in Surrey.

Jungle Jac’s – Coquitlam

Known for its large indoor playspace as well as a bumper car area, Jungle Jac’s is a favourite in the Tri-Cities region. Like most indoor play locations, this one offers a variety of birthday party options and group rentals.

The Adventure Zone – Vancouver (Granville Island)

There’s few places as iconic when it comes to kids in the city as the Granville Island Kid’s Market but did you know there’s an Adventure Zone play area inside of it? With a multi-level indoor jungle gym and a variety of unique features, including the new “i-Floor” attraction, there’s something for every age here.

6 Pack Beach – Richmond

This “indoor beach” facility hosts volleyball players and parties, but there’s also a great program available for the little ones. Lil’ Diggers lets kids come hang out on a warm sandy “beach” where they can dig, play and run. And yes, beach toys are included. Available at select times during the day.

Laserdome Plus – North Vancouver

Here’s a spot for both the younger and older kids: Laserdome Plus has a four-level, 7500 square foot laser tag arena, along with three rock-climbing walls with a total of 14 auto-belay lines for large groups. And for the little ones, there’s the Space Jungle: a soft-padded jungle gym area. Reservations required to secure a spot.

Circus Play Café – Vancouver

Circus Play Café, located on East 12th, features a carefully designed play space where children are encouraged to learn through play and imagination. With a circus room and a quiet “reading room” along with classes and workshops held throughout the week, there’s always something interesting going on here.

Go Bananas – Various Locations

Go Bananas may be one of the most well recognized names in indoor playgrounds in the region. They’ve been around a long time and there are now four locations in Chilliwack, Langley, Richmond and North Vancouver. With climbing structures, featuring spaces for both toddles and older children, as well as a variety of play spaces and ability to host parties, Go Bananas is a great option for a rainy day. Check out all the details at: Chilliwack location: http://www.gobananas-chilliwack.com/ or North Van location: http://gobananasnorthvan.com/ or Richmond location: http://gobananasrichmond.com/ or Langley location: http://www.gobananaslangley.com/

Central City Fun Park – Surrey

Here’s one for the older kids who may not be keen on the jungle gyms (or simply are too tall to fit!) Central City Fun Park, located near the Pattullo Bridge, features a huge arcade, bowling, a large roller skating rink, various games, VR sets, and much more. And yes, they offer birthday parties too.

Indoor Playgrounds in Calgary - SavvyMom

Our Favourite Indoor Playgrounds in Calgary

Our family is forever searching for things to do indoors to keep our active kids busy when the weather gets cold. While we’ve already got a bunch of indoor play places that we visit frequently, we’re always looking to add new ones to the list. Here are 8 popular indoor play places playgrounds in Calgary for you and your family to check out as the temperatures start to drop!

Our Favourite Indoor Playgrounds in Calgary

THE BIG BOX
944 65th Avenue NE

Although  a lot of people are likely to be visiting The Big Box at any given time, it doesn’t feel overcrowded. This is because the space is absolutely HUGE. With multiple climbing structures, inflatables, ball pits, slides, life-sized building blocks, baby play area, and more, there’s no shortage of things to do in the 25 000-square foot “Leisure Lagoon”. For an extra cost, kids and adults can also try out the aerial ropes course, arcade, bumper cars, and virtual reality games.

A couple of tips: because of its huge size, I wouldn’t recommend taking more than one young child here without an extra set of hands – it’s easy to lose sight of busy kiddos who want to go in two different directions. They also require special “grip” socks, so either wear your own or be prepared to buy a pair when you get there. Kids of all ages are sure to love this place (and parents will, too!) 2 adults get in free with each child’s admission.

BIG FUN
261024 Dwight McLellan Trail, Balzac, AB

If you’re looking for the perfect place to help your entire family burn off some major energy, this is it. Mazes, slides, obstacle courses, and pirate ships are just some of the attractions you’ll find among the 25 (or more) inflatable play spaces available at any given time. Big Fun does require you to wear special “Frog” socks that are only available to purchase from their establishment, but once you’ve bought a pair for $3, you can bring them for any future visit. Reviewers have also said that they are pretty strict about their “no outside food” policy, so if you’re hungry, be prepared to purchase food from their concession. Booking ahead online is recommended to guarantee entry, as Big Fun gets pretty busy on weekends and holidays. Two free admissions (adult or baby under 2) are included with each child’s admission.

SKY CASTLE
260300 Writing Creek Crescent

Foods to Boost Your Immunity - SavvyMom

7 Foods to Boost Your Immunity

Is it malarky, or is it possible to boost your immunity? Couldn’t hurt, right? Bulking up on some key nutrients while avoiding things like processed foods can go a long way when it comes to bolstering your defences. Eating foods in their whole-food form outshines taking a handful of supplements any day, and tastes much better. Here are some key foods to help keep you away from the Kleenex box, plus my go-to recipe when I want to keep the germs at bay.

7 Foods to Boost Your Immunity

Fermented Foods

It’s true that for every one human cell we have, we have 10 bacteria cells that call us home! While only a small percentage of these may be the disease-causing kind, most are actually quite helpful in protecting us from harm. With the majority living in our digestive tract (which is responsible for 80% of our immune system), upping your intake of traditionally fermented foods is a great way to keep your bacteria healthy & happy. Try including more foods like kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and kombucha into your daily diet.

Carotenoid-Containing Foods

Think all of those brightly-coloured sweet potatoes, squashes, and pumpkins that are in season in the fall, as well as tropical fruits like mango and papayas that can help inject a dose of the tropics into any day. Carotenoids are a pre-cursor to Vitamin A, which our body needs for a healthy immune system, as well as shutting off any unwanted inflammation.

Citrus Foods

A long-standing favourite, studies are still conflicted about whether or not Vitamin C shortens the duration of the common cold or lessens the severity. One thing is clear though the more stress you are under, the more your immune system is suppressed, and the more Vitamin C your body needs. Try adding a daily dose of Vitamin C to help give yourself a little added protection when you feel like something might be coming on, and make sure to also add lots of lemons, oranges, and peppers to your daily diet as well.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains a unique compound known as lauric acid, which converts in the body to monolaurin a compound found in breast milk that strengthens the baby’s immune system. This tropical oil makes a great addition to smoothies, stir-fries, curries, or roasted sweet potatoes.

Garlic

Known as “nature’s antibiotic”, garlic is naturally antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiviral. Fresh is best and is great in a wide variety of dishes. If you are up for the challenge try juicing it, along with lemons and ginger, at the first sign of a cold for a potent immune elixir.

Raw Local Honey

Just like garlic, honey is packed with antiviral and antimicrobial compounds that have been shown effective in treating everything from soothing a sore throat, to helping you beat the common cold, to healing skin wounds that much faster. When it comes to honey, you can’t skip on quality! Only the raw, unpasteurized stuff will do. Raw honey contains a trace amount of propolis, otherwise known as “bee glue”. This glue is actually a complex mixture of resins and other substances that honeybees use to seal the hive and make it safe from bacteria and other organisms. Just a spoonful a day will help keep the doctor away!

Ginger

The spicy kick that ginger gives can promote healthy sweating, helping the body detoxify and rid itself of the nasty bug. If the flu has you feeling a little green, ginger is also a potent anti-nausea remedy, helping to settle even the wooziest stomachs.

Orange Mango Lassi Recipe

Boost your immunity with this delicious mango lassi recipe that is bursting with tropical flavour…

  • 1 cup mango, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup plain kefir
  • ½ orange, juice only
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 1” piece of ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 1 Tbsp raw honey

Add all ingredients into a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Drink immediately.

Indoor Playgrounds in Toronto and the GTA - Savvymom

Indoor Playgrounds in Toronto & the GTA

As the weather turns cooler, the city’s parks and other outdoor attractions become a little less appealing, at least to us adults. Sure, they’re still must-visit places for your family but some days you want to be somewhere warm and cozy but where your kids can still burn off energy. Thankfully, there are many indoor playgrounds in Toronto and the GTA to fit the bill. Below we’ve rounded up 11 of Toronto’s top indoor playgrounds that are known for their cleanliness, their variety of activities, and of course, their ability to keep your kids happy and entertained.

While all the centres listed offer open, usually drop-in style play times, be sure to call ahead, especially if you want to go on the weekend. Many of them also offer birthday parties and the option to book their full facility out, so their public access can vary. Also note that most indoor play places are socks-only, yes, even for the adults, so make sure you head out the door with socks that you want the world to see.

Indoor Playgrounds in Toronto and the GTA

The Bubble
65A Orfus Rd., Toronto

This spot isn’t your traditional indoor playground but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up. As Canada’s only indoor “inflatapark,” The Bubble features six distinct inflatable areas, including an obstacle course and a giant slide. There’s also an arcade, a laser tag area and plenty of space to host your kid’s next birthday party. The Bubble’s inflatables are meant for people ages two and up, while kids must be at least seven to wield a laser tag gun. Access to 55 minutes of “jump time” is around $25 per person, with laser tag and the arcade costing extra. There are also discounted family packs available, starting at $115 for four people.

Bunch of Fun Playland
11B Kodiak Cres., Toronto

Featuring two large and colourful playgrounds, one aimed at toddlers and one better suited for kids ages four and up, this spot also has something for adults: A café that can prepare you hot, fresh coffee and various snacks (it’s also kosher). Bunch of Fun also offers a pottery studio where your older kids can paint a piece of clay while your younger ones are busy on the playground. Drop-in fees start at just over $13.

Epic Planet Fun
24 Lebovic Ave. Unit C2, Toronto

Featuring the city’s first indoor rope course, this playground is great for a wide range of ages and interests. You can entertain your littlest ones over in the separate toddler area while your older kids explore the large, multi-level play structure and the two custom inflatables. There is even an arcade and a parents’ lounge that features free wi-fi. As you would expect, this place also hosts birthday parties and features four rooms for exactly that purpose. A drop-in play pass starts at $12.99 per child, covers one adult and provides two hours of access to the indoor play gym. There’s also a $10.99 pass for siblings and various packages that also include access to the rope course.

Extreme Fun
186 Bartley Dr., Toronto

This place lives up to its name as it offers all kinds of ways to keep kids ages one through 10 busy. In addition to a 15-foot-high play structure, complete with slides of course, there’s a giant jumping castle, a drama/dress-up corner, air hockey and foosball tables and plenty more. There’s also a cafe for the adults and assorted packages are offered for birthday parties. General admission is $10, with an $8 sibling ticket also available.

Happy Kingdom
Nation Experience, 1980 St. Clair Ave. W., Toronto

An indoor playground inside a grocery store might sound odd at first but it’s actually kind of genius. While one adult stays with the kids at Happy Kingdom’s surprisingly elaborate indoor play structure (race each down the slides into the ball pit), another can buy groceries and then pick up lunch from Nations’ extensive hot table. Sit down at the adjacent tables to eat and then head back into the playground or check out the arcade. Birthday party packages are also available. Pricing varies depending on the day of the week and the size of your kid, but the entry fee starts at $14.99.

Jump For Joy
1472 Danforth Ave., Toronto

Located right on the Danforth, Jump for Joy is a short stroll from either the Greenwood or Coxwell subway stops. While best suited for kids under seven, older kids are welcome to come and play with their younger siblings on the indoor climbing structure (which features a slide and ball bit), in the bounce house and with the centre’s many pretend/dramatic play toys. There’s also a dedicated section for babies/young toddlers that’s a bit tucked away, to help keep the more active kids away from those who haven’t quite yet mastered walking. The drop-in play fee is $22 for one child and adult or $34 for two kids and an adult (kids under eight months are free). Jump for Joy also offers birthday parents, an after-care program, and even a parent relief program, where for $24 an hour, the centre’s staff will watch your little one while you run errands or take some me-time.

Just For Fun
689 Warden Ave., Toronto

Here you’ll find a massive indoor play structure that’s spacious enough to even be used by adults. Toddlers will enjoy the soft play and sensory play panel areas and older kids will flock to the free arcade games, air hockey table, basketball nets, and more. There’s also a virtual reality space, a gaming den, and a laser tag area that features such cool backdrops as underwater, and the Toronto cityscape. Admission to the playground for one child and one adult costs $14, with additional fees for the other activities.

Kids Fun Town
2071 Danforth Ave., Toronto

While most indoor playgrounds are located in out-of-the-way spaces, this one is found practically right next to the Woodbine subway stop. Best suited for kids ages nine months to seven years, Kids Fun Town features a climbing structure, a bouncy castle, and lots of dramatic and creative play toys. There’s also a separate play area for toddlers and ride-on toys for those kids who just need to move. Parents meanwhile can enjoy free wi-fi. A number of party packages are also available. A kid’s play-all-day pass is $13.99 with adults costing $7.99.

Midtown’s Tiny Tots
745 Mount Pleasant Rd., Toronto

In addition to being a daycare, and hosting birthday parties and camps, Midtown’s Tiny Tots also offers its Activity Centre, best suited for toddlers through the kindergarten age set. In the Centre your kids will find various sensory and mobile toys, a large play structure and even a mini-coaster. Midtown’s Tiny Tots also offers a coworking option where, for an additional fee, someone will supervise your child while you get some work done (yes, you must remain on- site). Note that right now, all play spots must be pre-booked. Hourly rates for the Activity Centre start at $15.50.

Playground Paradise
Flemingdon Community Centre, 150 Grenoble Dr., Toronto

Did you know that the City of Toronto runs its very own large, spacious, and completely FREE indoor playground? Located inside the Flemingdon Community Centre, Playground Paradise features climbing apparatuses, slides and even a larger-than-life “tree” that kids can explore. The playground is open to kids up to age 12 and just a heads-up, it can get quite busy. It also is a snack-free and beverage free zone, so fill up before you head out.

Sprouts
183 Carlaw Ave., Toronto

If you’re looking for more of a mellow environment where your under six-year-olds can practice their budding gross motor skills without getting in the way of “big kids,” this Leslieville-located indoor playground is an ideal fit. You child can have a ball on Sprouts’ many play structures, rockers and climbing apparatuses while you enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea. Sprouts also offers a number of classes and camps, as well as birthday party packages. Admission costs for the drop-in play is $21.95 for one child and adult or $31.95 for one adult and two children.
