The Olympic Weekend of Love

This long weekend is chock full of Valentine’s Day, Family Day, Chinese New Year and the official opening of the Games. It’s a love weekend of Olympic proportions, to be sure.
Here’s how we’re celebrating it in O-town:

Do the ‘Lude
We’re crossing our fingers for favourable weather—no melting or super sub-zero freezing. The official Winterlude website has the times and locations for some great family activities. It’s not just about ice-skating and Beavertails! Check out some live ice-sculpture demonstrations, movies on a snow-screen, arctic sports demonstrations, and more.

Live the Dream
After a day of skating on the Rideau Canal, you’ll definitely want to defrost and catch some of the Olympics. The opening ceremonies are Friday night. Check the official schedule to see which events you want to catch over the weekend. If you’re mobile, follow the Vancouver 2010 Twitter feed for Olympic tweets! (Speaking of which, have you been following the SavvyMom Parents of the 2010 McDonald’s® Hopefuls Blog? The stories have been amazing.)
