Some days, you just want the peace and quiet of a cup of coffee and a window seat at a cafe. But add kids to that equation and suddenly you’re tasked with entertaining a bunch of bored little faces. The Daily Grind Art Cafe in Chinatown has your back with tasty snacks and kid-friendly art kits to create a great family destination for a cool fall day.
First, let the kids pick out a treat for themselves, like one of their home-baked cookies, just-squeezed juices or chips with freshly made salsa. Then, settle your junior Monets at a table with free form art supplies, including markers, crayons and paper, or purchase an economical kit meant to create something more lasting. Kits supply everything you need to make a variety of projects, including a small car, tray-paint with marbles or a pretty mobile. In any case, all you’ll be hearing is, ‘Mommy, look what I made!’
Once the kids are all taken care of, pick up a treat for yourself—our personal weakness is their Peppermint Mochaccino—but their signature chocolate coffee, The Daily Grind, is also a must-try. Then, do your best to limit yourself to just one dessert from their display case; we recommend their (can’t tell!) gluten-free vegan brownies, big enough for the whole family to snag a taste.
Now that’s an outing with sweet relief from the daily grind.
