A Capital Staycation

Indoor Playground and Trampoline

If you’re not going anywhere warm for March Break, you might be feeling sorry for yourself right around now. We don’t blame you, but we also know that the best way to survive winter is to embrace it. There are so many fantastic activities in and around Ottawa to help fight off those winter blues.

Try tubing (our fave is Le Domaine de L’Ange-Gardien, which has handy tow ropes to pull your tube to the top), renting some snowshoes at Gatineau Park, or skating at the Rink of Dreams. Get a taste of springtime with pancakes and maple taffy at a local sugar bush. Or, bundle up and head out to the RCMP Musical Ride Centre—it’s open on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the winter for tours of the stables and visits with the gorgeous black horses.

Snow and ice not your thing? We’ll be avoiding the stir-crazies with visits to indoor playgrounds, like Cosmic Adventures, Funhaven, and our personal fave, the indoor trampoline gym SkyZone. There’s always bowling to keep them busy, and we’re sure to spend at least one afternoon splashing around at the Kanata Wave Pool. We’ll also be adding a little extra dazzle to the week with the Sens Skills competition on March 12—a fun family night out featuring skating and scoring contests between our Ottawa Senators—and the glitzy Saint Patrick’s Day parade downtown on March 15.

Whether it’s your first time staycationing in the city, or you’re an old pro, these locales never fail to offer excitement, fun, and the very opposite of boredom.

Make March Break worthy of a stay-and-play week. We’ve got More Indoor Playgrounds in Ottawa to keep them busy.
