Are you in a panic about the upcoming March Break because you haven’t signed your kids up for camp yet? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered. There are a variety of options across Ottawa that will appeal to all students and their interests.
From art camp to sporty camps to special interest camps, there’s something for everyone—and space is still available for many. Time to register for your child’s favourite camp may be running out, but with this list, you should be able to narrow down the options. Good luck, parents!
Kings and Queens of March Break
Located in Orleans, your child can enjoy craft time and laser tag at one camp thanks to Kids Kingdom. The week-long camp will see campers playing in their gym area, trying out laser tag, enjoying crafts and more. Two snacks are provided during the week. Registration is available by emailing or calling, both details can be found on their Facebook page.
Rock Stars
March Break camp just got amped up thanks to the offerings at School of Rock in Orleans. Your 7-12 year old will love this rock n’ roll twist on March Break. The day includes one on one instruction, band rehearsal and visits to local parks (to ensure budding musicians get their outdoor exercise too!) Instruments are provided, but if your star has their own, they are welcome to bring it.
A Variety of Interests
There are many camps across the City of Ottawa that you can register for. Available at various locations, the camps offer a variety of hands-on approaches to arts, sports, music and other interests. You can search the City of Ottawa March Break Camp site to find the closest and best offerings near you. Maybe your child will want to try out basketball for the week, or concentrate on a Pokemon-themed camp. There are many options to choose from!
Spies in Training
Your child can be a spy for a week at the Diefenbunker’s Spy Camp! For kids aged 7-12, this will be a week of espionage. Agent X is on the loose and needs to be stopped by your budding agent. They’ll develop disguises, break codes and use spy gadgets, all set in the historic Cold War Diefenbunker Museum.
Thespians
To be, or not to be…on stage, is the question! Your child can find their acting talents as a part of the Ottawa Little Theatre March Break camp. They’ll work together to develop confidence, acting skills and create a fun performance. Drama camps are for those aged 9-12, and workshops for ages 12-14. We love that this camp is offered for older kids who have expressed an interest in the arts.
Animal Lovers
If you child thinks camp is for the dogs, in a good way, then the Ottawa Humane Society off-leash camp may be perfect. Animal-loving kids aged 6-10 can get hands on experience at the Ottawa Humane Society as they learn about birds, dog walking, small animals and more while creating crafts or playing animal-themed games for the week.
Athletes
Most school ages are covered thanks to the Carleton University Ravens Camps. We love the inclusion of little campers. Your wee ones (aged 4-6) can enjoy the Mini-Ravens camp that will include a mix of sporty events with the older campers, but also focus on playing, learning and hands on activities to balance their day. Sports camp for kids aged 6-14 will offer the opportunity to experience a variety of sports to keep the kids active. Ultimate frisbee, fencing, table tennis, squash and others may be explored. For your teen, they may love the high performance camp to work on their conditioning and strength. There are even more options on their website.
