Easter is coming up and I’m already contemplating my holiday table setting. I like to keep things simple and stick to bright colours, fresh flowers, and a few seasonal decorations.
And this year, I’m turning our ordinary linen table napkins into bunny ears for a fuss-free way to add a little fun to the table. We use cloth napkins every night, but a few folds (ten, actually) transform this ordinary table item into something festive and seasonal.
Here’s how to fold a napkin into bunny ears:
Step 1:
Start with a large square cloth napkin or piece of fabric. I like 20″ x 20″ , but any large size will do. Be sure the linen is crease free and/or ironed before you start, and place the material wrong-side up on a table or flat surface.
Step 2:
Fold the napkin in half, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge.
Step 3:
Repeat the fold again, bringing the top edge down to meet the bottom edge once more.
Step 4:
Bring each side into the middle and fold down.
Step 5:
Fold the bottom right corner into the middle crease.
Step 6:
Fold the right side in half to the centre, forming the ear.
Step 7:
Repeat the steps 5 and 6 with the left side.
Step 8:
Fold the pointed triangle at the top back and under the napkin.
Step 9:
Slip the top left point of the right ‘ear’ into the pocket in the corner of the top of the left ‘ear’.
Step 10:
Turn the napkin so it is standing up. Place inside the glass and adjust the ‘ears’.
