It’s the back half of July, which means your kids have likely already complained about being bored and you’re trying to think of new ways to entertain them. If you’ve done pools, parks, and the usual Toronto attractions, it might be time to bring out of an old favourite family activity: Mini golf.
While maybe not as popular as it once was, mini golf is still a great way to bond and create new memories while also getting some exercise. Below we round up some of our favourite places for mini golf in Toronto and surrounding areas. We’ve also highlighted a few kid-friendly driving ranges and golf practice facilities, for those families who want to take their swings to the next level.
All of the destinations listed below have COVID-19 procedures in place though specific details do vary. Generally, pre-registration is required, and masks must be worn in indoor spaces.
Driving Ranges & Mini Golf in Toronto
Centennial Park Golf Centre

While it’s also home to a proper golf course, families are more likely to be interested in Centennials Park Golf Centre’s mini-golf course, which was recently been, “fully landscaped and re-turfed.” The results are quite scenic, and the course is filled with lush trees and water features. The Centre also features practice facilities that include a 34-stall driving range and, during non-COVID times, a chipping and putting green.
Centreville Amusement Park

Among Centreville Amusement Park’s many attractions is an 18-hole mini-golf course. And, like the rest of Centreville, this cute course is geared towards younger kids, making it an ideal spot to introduce your family to mini golf. To access the course, just flash your all-day ride pass, which this year must be pre-booked. Also note that all Toronto Islands ferry tickets must be purchased in advance, and they have been known to sell out on the weekends.
The Docks Driving Range

One of the city’s best known driving ranges is also “downtown Toronto’s only outdoor driving range.” That means it can get pretty busy so be sure to book this one well in advance, especially if you want to visit on a weekend. Thankfully it’s open year-round, including in the winter (there are heaters!). The Docks’ many stalls have wind and rain protection, making this an activity that your family can enjoy even on drizzly days.
Par-Tee Putt
26 Duncan St, Toronto, ON
Pop culture-loving kids will adore this downtown, indoor miniature golf course. It features an impressive 27 holes, each with a distinctive, eye-catching theme, including E.T., Twister (the game) and Nintendo. The holes are split up into three 9-hole courses, making this a destination that you can easily revisit a few times. Par-Tee Putt also has an on-site restaurant that has a very pizza-heavy menu that is sure to pleased most kids and quite a few adults.
Kids Fun City
150 Lesmill Road, Toronto, ON
The indoor course at this play centre is a little more condensed than some of the others on this list but hey, that means less walking! Mini golf is just the start of the fun available at Kids Fun City. Also are on-site is a laser maze, an indoor playground, and a toddler area for those kids age three and under. Note that as of July 2021, Kids Fun City is closed due to COVID-19, but it plans on re-opening soon.

If your family doesn’t mind driving out of the city core and is looking for some colourful, and air conditioned, indoor fun, consider a trip to the Putting Edge, a chain of mini-putt courses that has four locations around Toronto. Each location is home to 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark fun. Yes, the whole thing is black lit so be sure to dress the kids in white. All Putting Edges also offer an arcade, which might appeal to older kids and teens.
Pickering Playing Fields

Prefer an outdoor, suburban mini-putt course? Then head east to Pickering Playing Fields. It will have your family putting their way through an old mining town, which even features a large, yellow plane, and “some of the most difficult mini golf holes ever.” Unlike most of the other courses on this list, no reservations are required however you are encouraged to bring your own equipment. You must bring your own clubs to use Pickering Playing Fields’ driving range, which offers, “350 plus yards of pristine practice space,” rain or shine. In addition to golf, this destination also hosts beach volleyball games and a batting cage.
Ninth Line Family Gold Academy

Looking for somewhere cheap, cheerful, and child-friendly to practice your swing? This outdoor destination in Mississauga checks all of those boxes. Ninth Line Family Golf Academy driving range is open year-around and offers natural grass tee decks, instructional turf mats, and a large putting green. In addition to the driving range, Ninth Line also offers an 18-hole mini golf course that in 2020, won the Toronto Star’s Readers’ Choice Platinum Award for “Best Mini Golf in the GTA.” Memberships, including one specifically for families, are available for avid golfers. If you do head out to Ninth Line, make sure to stock up on water and snacks, the venue’s snack shop is closed during the pandemic.
Markham Golf Dome

Are you serious about getting the kids into golf? Then you’ll want to plan a trip one of the GTA’s top golfing practice spots, the Markham Golf Dome. While it doesn’t offer mini golf, it does have 60 driving range stalls, target greens, putting greens, and chipping greens, and that’s just the outdoor space. As the name suggests, Markham Golf Dome also features an indoor dome, which offers year-round, all-weather golfing opportunities. And during non-COVID times, the Golf Dome also offers a money-saving membership program.
Timber Creek Golf
2772 Ninth Line, Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON

Let’s round out this list with a destination that is a bit of a drive but that families tell us is worth the effort. Timber Creek is home to two different courses, one logging camp themed and the other shipwrecked themed, which total 37 holes. It’s considered to be one of the province’s prettiest mini golf courses, thanks to its beautiful landscaping. Want to perfect your swing? Check out the driving range, which features, “five target greens ranging from 90 to 250 yards.”
In addition to golf, Timber Creek also offers batting cages, a bouncy castle and slide (closed during COVID) and gemstone mining, where you little ones can pan for real treasures.
