Do you colour? The latest trend in adult Zen is actually one your kids are probably proficient in (or, at least they’re enthusiastic about it). Colouring is a great way to not only engage in an inexpensive yet fulfilling creative activity, it’s excellent for zoning out, slowing down, and quieting the mind. We were tickled pink to find a Frozen-themed colouring book in the aisles of Indigo recently. The book would be perfect for a kid who’s outgrown little-kid colouring books but still loves the activity’or for an adult who’s curious about the trend but daunted by the miniscule, eye-crossingly tiny designs in other books. Disney Frozen: 100 Images To Inspire Creativity And Relaxation makes for a nice middle ground, difficulty-wise, and the book is neither overly cartoonish nor overly geometric. Our favourite characters make appearances, but so do swirling landscapes, crystal ice patterns, and beautiful castles. ($16, available at chapters.indigo.ca)
