The clocks have fallen back an hour and the Halloween candy stash is on its way to being depleted, which can only mean one thing: it’s Craft Fair Season in Vancouver.

If you’re looking to add more social sustainability to your holiday shopping—and teach the kidlets about ethical consumerism—the 5th annual Charity Craft Fair is well worth a visit.

For starters, 100 per cent of admission proceeds from this event go to a local charity. This year, which has seen huge stretches of B.C. ravaged by wildfires, the fair is supporting the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. Charities get tables for free at the event, which features handcrafted wares and services from local artisans and small businesses.

Held in the atrium of the Woodward’s building, you’ll find the usual craft fair suspects here—handmade jewellery, soaps, ceramics, essential oils, art, clothing, holiday cards, ornaments, skin care and cosmetics—as well as some more unusual item, such as emergency preparedness kits.

This is geared as a family event, with a kids activity centre and a special visit from the Ice Queen from 2:30 to 3:30, as well as other entertainment throughout the day.

Admission to the fair will cost you $6 at the door—or you can save a couple bucks and purchase them online for $4 at: www.picatic.com/CCF17.

Follow organizers on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/CharityCraftFairVancouver to get updates and participate in fun contests leading up to the event.
