TELUS Spark has got igniting imaginations down to a science. Continuing to kindle our kid’s sense of discovery, The Brainasium all-season outdoor playground is now open.

Physical literacy and fundamental motor skills are at the epicenter of this outdoor classroom. Before building the non-traditional natural playground, the science center worked with Alberta Health Services and a playground inspector to strike the perfect balance between freedom and safety. We spotted a variety of engineered wood-fibre surfaces (with the highest safety rating), that strengthen and develop those motor skills in different ways.

There’s a natural obstacle course, five-tonne spinning rock, and the only teeter-totter in Calgary designed for six people. Plus, there’s a massive enclosed tower leading to a 63 foot slide—and that’s a lesson in gravity, people—not just another thrill for the kids.

We love how the park is designed so parents can keep an eye on big and little kids at the same time. But the best part is that the space is mitten-friendly, designed to be navigated safely even in the most inclement weather.

Yep, we’re still feeling the spark.

If you’re looking for more places for them to climb and clamber, we’ve got 7 more handpicked Playgrounds in Calgary.
