Having kids has definitely flexed our creative muscles (happy-face pancakes, anyone?), yet we don’t often get a chance to take our artistry beyond pre-school crafts.
That’s why we’re thrilled to discover Vin Gogh, Calgary’s first (and only) interactive ‘paint and sip’ studio. Since we’re multitaskers at heart, we think we can get the hang of mixing colours and cocktails.
Unleashing our inner artist during the two-hour guided session was a hoot, because fortunately no talent or previous experience is required. Your hosts have all the supplies and will even serve you a glass of wine and some nibbles while you paint. After the workshop, you get to take your masterpiece home while they clean up the mess.
Children over nine years, accompanied by an adult, can join in during Saturday morning classes. Saturday afternoons the studio can be booked for birthday parties that include cupcakes, painting supplies and instruction. Parents can drop off or stick around and enjoy a glass of wine. How awesome is that?
And in case you’ve run out of ideas for Spring Break, they’ll be offering camps from March 23 until April 10 for those nine years and older. The half-day sessions focus on confidence and how to enjoy art, versus learning stuffy techniques.
The folks at Vin Gogh have got this teaching thing down to a fine art. Cheers!
