Seeing the winter sky come to life with a kaleidoscope of colour is a surefire way to get the entire family into the holiday spirit. Here’s a look at the biggest and brightest holiday light displays around Calgary.
Airdrie Festival of Lights
Bonfires, hot chocolate stations and miniature train rides—what’s not to love about this annual event at Nose Creek Pond? Be sure to bring your skates; the pond is spectacular surrounded by the dazzling light displays. While admission to this colourful event is free, there are three brightly colored Toy Soldier Guard Houses around the park to accept donations.
Spruce Meadows
Canada’s premier equestrian facility turns into a winter wonderland come December. Strings of lights measuring nearly 50 km blanket the fields, forest and stables. A 2 km drive takes you through the grounds including Tournament Lane, the Nations Flag Park, Riders Chapel and the Pond.
