You went apple picking this past weekend and you’re not quite sure what to do with all those of granny smith, Macintosh, and royal gala apples you picked! Sure, you can eat a load of them, but what about the rest?
To help you out – and give you a little apple inspiration – we’re sharing our five favourite apple recipes with you!
5 Delicious Apple Recipes
1. Spiced Apple Walnut Crumb Cake
This moist and delicious spiced cake is chock-full of apples and walnuts. What a creative idea to serve for brunch or as the perfect afternoon treat!
2. Waffles with Cinnamon sugar, caramelized apples & vanilla ice cream
If apple pie is your thing, this is one of the best apple recipes for you!
- Make a waffle batter with little hits of spice from ground cinnamon and nutmeg.
- In a small bowl, stir together 2 tbsp granulated sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon and set aside.
- Core and slice 2 apples into wedges.
- Melt a little butter in a large skillet, add apples and a sprinkle of sugar. Cook, tossing often, until apples are soft and caramelized, about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Once waffles are ready to go, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, some caramelized apples and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Pure indulgence!!
3. Cranberry, Apple & Brie Rice Salad
Banish boring ol’ rice! This rice salad combines flavour-packed ingredients like apples, cranberries, and brie for one of our favourite apple recipes and unique salad recipes or a perfect #MeatlessMonday dish!
4. Gourmet Apple Pie
Piles of soft, cinnamon-scented apples nestled between 2 layers of flaky, buttery pastry, served warm with a (generous) scoop of vanilla ice cream. Really, who doesn’t love apple pie?
Our classic apple pie uses our no-fail shortcrust pastry which is a cinch to whip up and can even frozen ahead of time to make your pie-making-day ultra-easy. Simply defrost dough disks in the fridge overnight and you are halfway there to making a delicious appley-inspired winter dessert.
(Or use a pre-made crust)
5. Apple Spice Cake with Ricotta Frosting
One of our favourite apple recipes, this is an easy snacking cake full of great fall flavours.
Quick Tip: If you’re not a fan of Granny Smith or just want to shake things up a little, this cake is just as lovely with any apple that holds its shape when baked. Try it with Northern Spy, Crispin, or Honeycrisp apples.
