Valentine’s Day looks a little different once we become parents. But those long, quiet, romantic dinners don’t have to be a thing of the past. Imagine being whisked away to an atmospheric spot, where a multi-course dinner paired with fine wine awaits. The kids are well taken care of, and nobody has to drive. Sounds like a pipe dream doesn’t it? Well allow us to bring that fantasy to life, because we’ve found a chauffeured dining escape with child-minding services built in.
Here’s the scoop: a luxury sedan will arrive at your home to drop off your modern-day Mary Poppins, and pick up you and your Valentine. You’ll then be whisked away to Azuridge, a sprawling estate hotel near Priddis, for the OPAL five course dinner experience. While you are wined and dined, the nanny (who came prepped with a bag full of goodies) will entertain the kids and will have them bathed and in bed before you arrive home. (Disappointingly, she leaves along with the chauffeur at the end of the evening.)
The chauffeured dining escape and nanny courtier package is available Thursday to Sunday. You’ll want to reserve in advance, especially if you’re planning this experience close to Valentine’s Day. The chauffeured dinner service is $430 (including wine and food), and the the nanny component (for three hours) is $150.
Of course, couples are welcome to drive out on their own for dinner. On February 14, they’re offering a special Valentine’s inspired menu that includes five à la carte courses and dessert (for $95 per guest).
Nobody will stop you if you really want to bring the wee ones to this enchanting estate hotel. Reserving a superior room means the kiddies climb a ladder to their own loft, where they’ll bed down inside a pop-up tent. Sleeping bags and other kid distractions are provided.
For non-overnight adventures, bookmark Family Day in the Foothills. There’ll be outdoor activities, cozy fireside games, s’more making and a kid-approved buffet that includes both a mac n’ cheese and hot dog station. ($45 for adults, $25 for kids ages 6-12, kids under 5 are free).
A swish hotel that caters to families? Yep, romance is definitely in the air.
