One of the best aspects of having a late Easter is that local, seasonal events can take advantage of the rapidly warming spring weather. While your kids are probably happy to look for Easter eggs and other treats in the mud and even snow, we suspect you may have different preferences. Below we round up 10 events for Easter in Toronto and area that are all about having some springtime fun with your family.
Fun Things to Do for Easter in Toronto
EasterFest

Celebrate Easter at a real farm with real (and cute) animals! The Easter bunny and his friends will also be on-site for photos and make sure your kids bring their Easter baskets so that they can participate in the farm’s egg and scavenger hunts. Other activities include the Barnyard Playland, wagon rides, and even a singing chicken show. Tickets, which are timed, are $18 for
everyone ages two and up and include hot chocolate and a goodie bag.
Downey’s Farm Easterfest
3682 Heart Lake Rd, Inglewood
Saturday, April 9 & 10, Friday, April 15 – Sunday, April 17
Here’s another farm-based option for your Easter celebrations. Explore the play areas, pet some farm animals, and then check out Downey’s many Easter-themed activities including a puppet show, a craft station, and an Easter story wagon ride. There’s also an Easter egg hunt complete with prizes and the chance to meet the Easter Bunny and his helpers. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will cost everyone between ages two and 92, $18 each.
Dino Park
Lawrence Allen Centre, 700 Lawrence Ave. W, Toronto
Friday, April 15 – Sunday, April 24
As a name suggests, the stars of this event are dinosaurs (technically life-size animatronics). However, we’re told that the Easter Bunny will make an appearance during the Easter weekend dates so we figure that’s enough of a holiday connection to include this event on this list. In addition to the dinosaurs and the Bunny, there will also be carnival rides and games and lots of tasty food like cotton candy. Individual admission is $12.50 (kids who are 18 months or less are free), with rides costing extra.
There’s also the option of a $60 family pack, which includes admission for four and 15 ride tickets. While the family pack must be purchased online, individual admission and ride tickets can be purchased at the gate.
Digital Easter Egg Hunt
The Beaches, Toronto
Friday, April 15
The team behind the Beaches Easter parade is hosting what they call a “digital Easter egg hunt.” However, this event does require that your family gets out there and visits 12 real-world locations, all found within The Beach. After you’ve “discovered” all 12 eggs and completed a few other tasks (like answering trivia questions), your family will receive the secret destination clue where you’ll receive an Easter treat. Advanced registration is required and costs $20 per team.
Easter Fun Fest
Markham Fairgrounds, 10801 McCowan Rd., Markham
Friday, April 15 – Monday, April 18
Featuring a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, this event has it all: Rides, food trucks, and so many bouncy inflatables. There will also be the option to decorate eggs, participate in daily Easter egg hunts and even meet the Easter Bunny. Tickets give you access to unlimited rides and are $20 if purchased in advance and $25 at the door, with kids under two being free.
Parking is also free.
Easter Brunch Buffets

For many families, an extravagant brunch buffets is as much an Easter in Toronto tradition as hunting down foil wrapped chocolate eggs. With the loosening of COVID-related restrictions, many restaurants have re-opened their buffet tables. Your options include the old world charm of the Old Mill, which is serving both Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17; the truly decadent offerings of the King Edward (here kids five and under eat free) and the very child-friendly Hot House Restaurant (https://www.hothouserestaurant.com/), which includes an ice cream cart.)
Davenport Easter Egg Hunt

Sunday, April 16
Parents, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while your kids search Dufferin Grove for chocolate and other treats. Then head over to Dufferin Mall (located just across the street), to finish your Easter shopping. This event, which is sponsored by Toronto city councillor Ana Bailão, is free to attend but does require that your kids be registered by April 14.
Downtown Brampton Easter Egg Hunt
Daily Times Square, 33 Queen St. W, Brampton
Saturday, April 16
Explore downtown Brampton (it’s home to over 25 restaurants) while collecting some sweet treats. There will also be live entertainment, a meet and greet with the Easter Bunny, a photo booth and more. This event is free (even the parking is free) but does require advance registration.
Beaches Easter Parade
Queen St. E, Toronto
Sunday, April 17
It’s truly an Easter in Toronto tradition. Canada’s longest and largest Easter parade is back and will make its way down Queen Street East, starting at 2pm at Munro Park and ending at Woodbine Avenue, roughly two hours later. Expect to see floats, live music, and other entertainers. While competition for the best views isn’t quite as aggressive as the Santa Claus parade, note that people will start lining up along Queen well ahead of the parade’s 2pm start.
Hopping Down the Bunny Trail Easter Egg Hunt
Harbour St., Toronto
Monday, April 18
Over 25,000 eggs, candies, toys, and more will be hidden in this over-the-top Easter egg hunt that also includes vendors, games, and even photos with the Easter Bunny. This event is open to kids 12 and younger and children will be split up into different age groups, to make things a bit fairer. Tickets, which should be purchased in advance, run around $12 per kid.
