The cake is often the centrepiece of any birthday celebration, but finding the right one can be tricky. Hands up if you’ve ever created (or purchased) a masterpiece only to hear “I don’t like it”, or “the icing is too sweet”, or “that looks like a baby’s cake. I don’t even like Dora anymore.”
Sigh.
And sometimes you just want to change things up. Last year we did a tower of Tim Horton’s cinnamon buns for my ten-year-old because that’s her favourite sweet treat. What can I say, kids are weird.
So what to do if cake is no longer the Holy Grail and you need something different? Check out our list of decadent and delicious birthday cake alternatives. (Or just follow them on Instagram for calorie-free inspiration!)
